Royal Thai Mint

First established in 1860 by royal command, it was created to produce standardized coinage for the kingdom in a move towards a modern monetary system. Beyond its core role in minting circulation coins, commemorative coinage, medals, and royal decorations, the complex includes a museum and learning center that showcases the evolution of Thai money and minting technology. The Mint’s historical museum showcases this evolution through extensive displays of ancient Funan and Dvaravati silver coins, rare bullet money, and the "banagarn" (royal gift) series. These exhibits emphasize the mint's historical significance in asserting Thai sovereignty through a stable monetary identity, featuring miniature models of previous mint locations and original production tools that document over 160 years of numismatic heritage.

Looking toward the future, the institution has transitioned from a secure factory into an interactive classroom where the public can explore financial literacy and the artistry of coin design. Future-focused displays utilize digital media, interactive games, and high-tech videos to explain the complexities of monetary policy and the technical precision of modern minting. By collaborating with international partners like the British Royal Mint to establish regional training centres, the Royal Thai Mint ensures its ongoing importance as a guardian of national heritage.

Bang Lamphu Museum

Situated in the historic Bang Lamphu district of Bangkok, this museum is housed within restored buildings that once comprised the Wat Sangwet Printing School and the Kurusapha Printing House — Thailand’s first dedicated printing institution, founded in the early 20th century. Visitors can explore displays on the early Rattanakosin city walls and forts, the role and history of the Treasury Department of Thailand, and the day‑to‑day life of the Bang Lamphu community, including its diverse cultural heritage, historical businesses, and printing history.

Looking toward the future, the Bang Lamphu Museum serves as a vital educational center and a model for community-based tourism designed to bridge generational gaps. Spearheaded by the Treasury Department as a key urban conservation project, the museum has transitioned into a "living classroom" where local wisdom and disappearing traditions—such as traditional performing arts and intricate silver-and-gold embroidery—are meticulously documented and passed on to the youth. By utilizing interactive media, films, and accessible design, the museum demystifies the socio-economic evolution of the neighborhood, ensuring its unique multicultural identity is not lost to modernization. These efforts transform the site into a dynamic hub for social studies and heritage preservation, empowering the next generation to value and sustain the vibrant cultural fabric of one of Bangkok’s most historic districts.

Coin Museum

Operated by the Treasury Department, it was established to preserve and interpret the history of money and currency not only in Thailand but across the world. Coinage includes ancient coins from early Southeast Asian kingdoms, Thai numismatic artifacts, unique items like coins with embedded DNA or QR codes, as well as thematic exhibits that highlight cultural and socio‑economic aspects tied to currency. A highlight of the past is the "Timeline of Money" gallery, which uses immersive 4D 360-degree cinema technology to transport visitors back to the origins of shells and seeds as early forms of value, emphasizing Thailand's long-standing role as a crossroads of global trade.

Looking ahead, the Coin Museum is positioned as an increasingly important educational resource that deepens public understanding of economic history, monetary systems, and cultural exchange through money. Its extensive collection of over 4,000 coins, thematic galleries, and interactive learning environments offer engaging experiences for students, historians, and collectors alike, while its exhibits on coin production and currency design help demystify complex concepts about how money functions in society.
