Queen Saovabha Queen Savang

Sa Pathum Palace

Originally commissioned by King Rama VI for Queen Sri Savarindira (the Queen Grandmother), the palace became the longtime home of Princess Srinagarindra (the Princess Mother) and was the childhood residence of both King Rama VIII and King Rama IX. Today, the palace grounds house the Queen Savang Vadhana Museum, which was established by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to preserve the heritage of her ancestors. Visitors to the museum can witness the elegant combination of Western and Thai architectural styles, explore beautifully preserved living quarters that reflect the modest and disciplined lifestyle of the royal family, and learn about the Queen Grandmother’s significant contributions to Thai silk production and public health.

Queen Savang Vadhana Museum

This venue celebrates the life, legacy, and charitable works of Queen Savang Vadhana, consort of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) and grandmother of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX). The museum houses personal artifacts, photographs, royal memorabilia, and archival documents that illustrate her deep commitment to social welfare, healthcare, and education, particularly for women and children. Visitors can explore exhibits that highlight her philanthropic initiatives, her role in nurturing the royal family, and her influence on modern Thai society. Through its carefully curated displays, the museum offers an intimate glimpse into her life and enduring contributions, emphasizing the compassion, leadership, and vision that made Queen Savang Vadhana a revered figure in Thailand’s history.

Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute

This a premier medical research center in Bangkok operated by the Thai Red Cross Society and named in honor of Queen Saovabha Phongsri. Established in 1922, it serves as a global leader in herpetological research and is one of the world's oldest facilities dedicated to the production of life-saving antivenom for snakebite victims throughout Southeast Asia. Visitors to the institute can explore an educational museum that demystifies reptile biology, witness daily live demonstrations of venom extraction, and learn essential snakebite first aid. Beyond its work with reptiles, the institute continues its vital public health mission by providing a specialized clinic for vaccinations and rabies prevention, standing as a unique intersection of scientific innovation, public education, and humanitarian service.

Red Cross Blood Donation Centre

The facility dedicated to supporting Thailand’s healthcare system by collecting, testing, and supplying safe blood to hospitals nationwide. Visitors and donors can participate directly in life-saving activities, while the center also provides educational exhibits on blood donation, health awareness, and emergency medical support. Beyond its practical role, the center embodies the humanitarian spirit promoted by the Thai monarchy and national institutions, serving as a place where individuals contribute to the well-being of the wider community through simple yet impactful acts of generosity.

Srisavarindhira Thai Red Cross Institute of Nursing

Originally established to preserve the legacy of Thailand's first nursing school, the museum provides a comprehensive look at the evolution of nursing education and practice under the patronage of the Thai Royal Family. While Queen Savang Vadhana is the institute’s namesake and the original proponent for the Red Cross's founding, her sister Queen Saovabha Phongsri served as the society's first President. Visitors can explore exhibits that highlight the institution's transformation from the Siam Red Cross School of Nursing to its current status, that showcases rare documents, photographs, vintage nursing uniforms (including the iconic red-skirt uniform), and medical artifacts.
