Nursing Care

Mahidol University Faculty of Nursing

Established in its current form, its purpose is to foster "Nurse-Led Game Changers" through advanced programs in Gerontological Nursing and its status as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Nursing and Midwifery Development. The faculty’s achievements are underscored by the Thailand Quality Class (TQC) award for performance excellence and its leadership in "Integrated Care for Older People" (ICOPE). For a special interest field study group, Salaya offers an immersive experience in the future of healthcare: visitors can tour the High-Fidelity Nursing Simulation Center to see real-time geriatric emergency training, explore the Royal Archives to understand the profession's compassionate heritage, and engage with the Center of Excellence in Gerontological Nursing to observe innovations in "Aging-in-Place" technology and community-based mental well-being projects like the "Sing with Harmony" initiative.

Mahidol Medical & Nursing Museum

Located within the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, this museum serves as a specialized repository for the history of medical education in Thailand. Its purpose is to document the transition from traditional Siamese healing arts to Western-influenced clinical practices, a move spearheaded by Prince Mahidol of Songkla. Visitors can view rare medical instruments from the early 20th century, original lecture notes from the first generation of Thai doctors, and exhibits detailing the faculty’s achievement in becoming the first medical school in the country to receive international accreditation. It provides a rare look at how a developing nation modernized its entire healthcare infrastructure in just a few decades.

Thai Nursing Museum & Archives

This museum is a dedicated space that honors the legacy of nursing as a noble profession, heavily influenced by the work of the Princess Mother, Srinagarindra. Its background is rooted in the "Siriraj School of Nursing," the first of its kind in Thailand, established in 1896. The purpose of the archives is to preserve the "Spirit of Nursing" through a collection of vintage nurse uniforms, early midwifery kits, and photographs of nursing units during wartime. Your group can participate in a guided walkthrough that highlights the achievements of Thai nurses in rural public health and disaster relief, showcasing how the profession evolved from basic caregiving to advanced clinical practice.

Anatomy Learning Center

Moving from history to hands-on science, the Anatomy Learning Center at Mahidol (and its counterparts at Chulalongkorn) functions as a modern "Temple of Science." Its purpose is to facilitate the study of human biology through the "Ajarn Yai" (Great Teacher) tradition, where bodies are donated for medical study. In this center, the group can observe high-resolution plastinated sections, 3D anatomical models, and professional dissection tables used by current medical students. The center’s achievement lies in its ethical approach to body donation, integrating Buddhist merit-making with rigorous scientific inquiry, allowing visitors to see the incredible complexity of the cardiovascular and nervous systems in a respectful, academic environment.
