Chulalongkorn Geriatrics

Center for Health and Wellbeing Promotion for Older People (CHWPOP)

Located on the 10th floor of the Boromarajonani Srisataporn Building, CHWPOP serves as a specialized "Second Home" for frail older adults who are beginning to experience functional decline. Its primary mission is to prevent dependency through research-based interventions that stimulate both physical and cognitive faculties. The center has achieved international recognition for its Multidisciplinary Day Care Model, which successfully integrates nursing, music therapy, and specialized fitness to help seniors maintain their independence.

During the visit, your group can observe the multi-sensory stimulation rooms designed to engage sight and smell, witness the "Coffee Room" where seniors practice reminiscence therapy, and see how faculty-led research is directly applied to help elderly participants return to a state of healthy aging.

Geriatric Excellence Center (GEC)

The Geriatric Excellence Center, situated on the 4th floor of the Sor Thor Building (S.D. Building), functions as the clinical and strategic heart of the hospital’s senior care system. Its purpose is to prepare Thai society for global aging changes by providing a Comprehensive Geriatric Clinic that handles everything from falls and sleep disorders to mental health screening for those over 60. One of its standout achievements is the production of the National Reference Textbooks for elderly care and its role as a demonstration site for national policy integration.

Visitors here can observe the High-Tech Gait and Motion Analysis tools used to predict mobility issues and tour the Women's Health Clinic, which focuses on menopausal transitions, providing a deep dive into the hospital’s "holistic screening" approach that seeks to slow degeneration long before patients become bedridden.

Center of Excellence for Parkinson’s Disease & Related Disorders

Operating primarily on the 7th floor of the Sor Thor Building, this center is the first of its kind in Thailand and a global leader in Movement Disorder Research. Its mission is to combine world-class neurosurgery and neurology with innovative engineering to create life-changing assistive technologies. The center has achieved fame for its "patent-pending" inventions, such as the Laser-Guided Walking Stick and the Tremor-Suppressing Glove, which have significantly improved the mobility of Parkinson's patients.

At this site, your group can witness Live Tremor Analysis and voice screening technologies, see demonstrations of their machine-learning keyboards that detect early-stage PD, and learn how a multidisciplinary team of engineers and neurologists works together to turn academic research into functional, daily-use tools for seniors.

Chula Dementia Day Center

Often integrated into the neuroscience and geriatric wings, the Chula Dementia Day Center (specifically the "Dementia Day Care" service) is designed as a therapeutic refuge for patients with varying stages of cognitive decline. Its purpose is to relieve caregiver burden while providing patients with a structured environment that slows cognitive erosion through Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST).

The center's achievement lies in its high patient-retention rate and its successful "Hospital-to-Home" transition program, which trains families to maintain a therapeutic environment in their own households. Your group can observe brain-stimulation games in progress, see the layout of dementia-friendly spaces designed to prevent wandering and anxiety, and discuss with clinical psychologists how personalized "memory kits" are developed to help patients retain their sense of identity and social skills.
